Our client was very interested
in starting a development business that constructed up to date,
high quality, contemporary spaces for sale. He was concerned
that the first project should have character and be light and airy.
We have provided 365m2 of space which is split into two, defining
the formal and informal halves of the property. The separation
is made by a double height atrium space, which brings light and
air into the centre of the property and provides a striking
first impression. The space is generally open plan though
sliding panels allow some rooms to be separated off. Sliding
glass doors on the rear elevation allow the living and dining
rooms to open fully onto the generous garden
The construction is somewhat of a hybrid combining conventional
masonry construction on the ground floor with a cedar clad timber
frame apparently ‘hovering’ above. A steel frame
supports the first floor timber structure and allows the building
to enjoy very large areas of glass.
The project was completed in December 2007.
